One work or 50 works
Photo and video, various formats, 2013 |
This work could be likened to a small personal drawing exhibition held in a Parisian suburban garage. The duration of the exhibition was 17 minutes. According to the previous observation, cars pass by every 17 minutes. In that case, the probability can only engender 2 results: the inevitable arrival and the unavoidable non-arrival. In the middle of the exhibition, one of the spectator – a driver shocked by the scene – arrived as “planned”. With my permission, he drove straight forward and parked his car in his original parking spot.
This work became eventually documentary images of paintings that are destroyed and recreated by accidents. Meanwhile, here comes some questions: could people turn the accident, or an opted chance, into a form of art? How could we demonstrate works which are being vandalized or reproduced by someone else? |
